SMP for men at Manscape is designed to replicate the appearance of a closely shaved head — often described as a ‘zero-grade buzz cut’ look — which is one of the most popular and timeless styles for men. The micro-impressions placed on the scalp mimic the natural dot-like appearance of freshly shaved follicles, giving the illusion of a full head of hair at scalp level. For men who still have some hair, we can use SMP to add visual density so the existing hair looks thicker and fuller. The final look is clean, sharp, and above all — completely undetectable.

How is the hairline designed for my face, and do I get a say in the process?

Absolutely — at Manscape SMP, hairline design is a collaborative process from start to finish. During your consultation, our artists study your facial structure, bone structure, age, and natural hair growth patterns to recommend a hairline shape that complements your features. We’ll map out the design and get your approval before any pigment is placed on the scalp, so you know exactly what to expect. Our philosophy at Manscape is that hairlines should never look generic or overdone — they should look like yours.

Do I need to shave my head before getting SMP for men?

For the full shaved-head SMP look, keeping the hair closely cropped (typically at a grade 1 or 0) gives the most seamless, realistic result. If you still have a significant amount of hair and are opting for a density treatment rather than a full SMP look, shaving may not be required at all. During your consultation, we’ll advise you on the best preparation approach based on your specific hair loss situation and the result you’re aiming for. Our goal is always to make the process as straightforward and comfortable as possible for you.

Is there any downtime after my SMP session, and when can I return to normal activities?

One of the major advantages of SMP at Manscape is that it requires no surgical downtime whatsoever. Most men return to work and daily activities immediately after each session, with only a few aftercare precautions to follow during the healing period. In the first 4 days following a session, we recommend avoiding swimming, intense exercise that causes heavy sweating, and direct sun exposure on the scalp. After that initial period, normal activities can resume, and your scalp will continue to settle naturally over the following weeks.
